Before the Alley Theatre's eight-play subscription series begins in October, the Alley will offer its new "Fall Festival" featuring two back-to-back special engagements by Hispanic artists in September in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. The lineup includes the return of actor / author Herbert Siguenza in CANTINFLAS September 8 - 12, 2004, a tribute to the late Mario Moreno that premiered at the Alley last season, and the Houston premiere of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa September 14 - 18, 2004, a project of the Los Angeles - based comedy troupe Culture Clash, of which Siguenza is a founding member.

A highly anticipated return after a successful debut last season at the Alley, CANTINFLAS will be performed in Spanish and English and captures the fusion of Mario Moreno's (the "Charlie Chaplin of Mexico") clever word play. Creator and actor Herbert Siguenza reprises hisleading role in this encore production, originally commissioned for the Alley Theatre and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

The Houston premiere of Culture Clash in AmeriCCa, a venture of the Los Angeles - based comedy troup Culture Clash of which Siguenza is a founding member will follow as the second part of the "Fall Festival". Performed in English, Culture Clash in AmeriCCa (yes, two C's!) is a high octane fusion of satire, shtick and sociology. Using humor, dance, poetry and real interviews to create a non-traditional evening of theatre, the three members (Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, and Siguenza) each play multiple characters, crossing racial, social and sexual boundaries, thus reinventing the theatre experience and celebrating the cities and people that make this country what it is. This play contains mature subject matter.
